Supermarkets
Israel’s retail market can be traced back to the 1932 founding of the Co-op supermarket chain as part of the Cooperative Movement. During the 1990s, Co-op’s IPO and merger with Hypershuk cemented its position as an industry leader.
Upon its 2003 acquisition by the Alon Group for NIS 1.4 billion, the Co-op chain included 173 stores and revenues of NIS 5.5 billion. Its assets formed the basis for the establishment of BSRE, which became one of the industry’s largest companies, with 89 properties covering a total area of 160,000 sqm.
Today, the company’s properties are located in high-demand areas and are leased to top chains like Mega, Carrefour, AM:PM, Shufersal, and Rami Levy, among others. Leased under long-term contracts, these properties form a strategic component of the BSRE income-producing portfolio, ensuring stability and economic growth.
